NEW MUSIC FOR SACRAL SPACES
With the music project SONUS LOCI (Lat. sonus, sound; locus, place) the composer and sound artist Klaus Hollinetz realizes a dream he has had for a long time:
playing as many church spaces in Linz as possible electroacoustically and live, creating music that overcomes the temporal and spatial expanse of what is familiar, and drawing an arch based on the parameters of space and time with all their manifold aspects.
With SONUS LOCI Hollinetz purposely takes an uncompromising path. The individual concerts undergo the greatest possible reduction – whereby simplicity and clarity form the basic framework.
Central issues of SONUS LOCI are: church spaces in their significance as public spaces, as spiritual spaces and as sounding spaces.
The principle of the subject matter of the non-confessional art project SONUS LOCI is to treat faith communities and their positions with respect.
On five evenings different musicians create performances within the framework of the electronic live space composition by Klaus Hollinetz. Each performance is especially conceived for the specific conditions of each place. SONUS LOCI AETHERIS, the conclusion of the series, is a concert evening of a work performed in different versions in multiple locations at the same time. All of the concerts together, connected by an electroacoustic soundtrack and transmitted "across the ether" in real time, form a great whole, whereby each individual concert functions as an independent program.
